there are direct messages which are private. my profile is public. they are called tweets. it isnt really a social networking site, although it is becoming that. its more about micro blogging. twitter is simple, it works by you typing a status update and clicking ok. and you can follow others, such as news outlets. anyway my profile is

and you'll see what i mean. you can tweet anythng!
