In education specifically?

I teach EFL, so:

1. I like to skype authors of stories or poems we use in class
2. If we can't skype them I can often find youtube videos of them reading excerpts
3. Use twitter hastags to tweet questions to people relevant to what you are reading about
4. Keep a twitter feed that students can follow to stay up to date with questions
5. Post grades online (http://eslcarissa.blogspot.com/2012/06/m...book.html) this keeps communication open for students to question an assignment or send you a message
6. Have students start a blog with you. They can add pictures relevant to vocab respond to questions etc.
