What's the most annoying naming trend to you?

1. Boy names on girls.
- If you're not going to name your son Rose then you have absolutely no right to name your daughter Avery.

2. Claiming boy names are feminine.
- This is a trend in itself (on this site, at least), as originally only a few people would claim an outright boy name was feminine but then others started feeding into it and now everyone seems to be doing it.

3. Using the "-lyn" suffix.
- Has no one watched the movie Ted? "-lyn" names - aside from official ones like Evelyn or Ethelyn - are considered to be trashy and lower class. Not only that but, EVERYONE is using "-lyn" so it's no longer unique (which is the reason why people are still using it).

4. Cutesy names.
- It seems to be quite popular nowadays for people to ask for or pick cute names just because they're cute. They won't consider more formal variants such as Millicent and Alfred, but will happily go for Millie and Alfie instead, because they're far more appropriate for their baby boys and little girls. They leave no room for maturity as children age and at age 30+ they just look desperate!

5. Illiterate names.
- People tend to misspell perfectly normal names at the drop of a hat these days. And why? "I want my daughter to be unique and Alivia will be TOTALLY different to all the Olivias!" The last time I checked, illiteracy was not a desirable trait in our world today, nor was giving your child a name that will require a lifetime of spelling and pronunciation clarifications considered as a positive. If you don't like how common a name is, people, to the degree in which you'd misspell it, then CHOOSE A LESS COMMON NAME!

6. Made up names.
- There are millions of unexplored, unique and intriguing names in our world today, so why make up a name? When your future child inevitably approaches you with questions on where their name comes from, don't you want to be able to say more than: "It came from my HEAD, sweetheart!" Also, I wouldn't mind made up names so much if they actually came out half-way professional like, say, Calliopeia, but made up names often come out looking like alphabetti-spaghetti.

7. Grossly over-popular names.
- If you like a popular name, that's fine. But, unfortunately, it has come to my attention that a vast majority of the people who do cater to over-popular names are only doing so to be 'cool' and 'in' with the crowd. Which means that I have to put up with the name Sophia or Lily pretty much every five minutes and that does get annoying. Not only that but, I personally wouldn't want my child to be just one child in an entire generation of children bearing the same name as him/her.

8. Filler names.
- People, it's very simple: Stop choosing Rose, Faith, Grace, Hope, Marie, Claire and so on, just because they're pretty and go with everything. PLEASE put a bit more effort into your child's name!

9. Place names.
- I have a place name on my boy list; Paris, but not for the place. It's actually after the prince of Troy but I constantly have to deal with comments like: "Why would you name your son after Paris Hilton?" or, the more common, "Don't name your son after a PLACE!" I hate place names. They're tacky, trendy, trashy and all around sound like the parents were trying to advertise that they're well-traveled. Or that the child was conceived in said place which is really not any better... Also, wanting to name your child Ireland when you're not from Ireland, or Berlin when you're not German is and looks incredibly stupid.

10. Month names.
- April, May and June for girls and August for boys are all legitimate names that hold connections other than the months. January, February, March, July, September, October, November and December are month names and ONLY month names, and they happen to look try-hard and ridiculous on children.

I have many more hates but these cover the basics.
