It sounds like the kind of a place you might pick up a social disease.

However, wiki has this definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_market_economy

It sounds like a semi managed economy. Think the Fed and targetted inflation rates. Then REALLY think of the fed and targetted (as opposed to real) inflation rates....

Personally, it sounds nifty if it works. But it needs a lot of trust in the planners.
