Why are people my friend on Facebook but won’t give me their number?
I have this girl who works as an activities coordinator and she is on my Facebook. I asked her for her cell phone number and she said: “I don’t give out my number. It’s really personal.” Then I said: “Why not? You are on my Facebook and you don’t think that’s too personal?” Then she didn’t answer me and ignored me but meanwhile, she is on my facebook! Why would she be my friend on Facebook but not give me her number? I think a friend who is on your facebook is just as private as a cell phone number and she told me just to chat with her on Facebook if I want to talk and that she doesn’t like to give her private cell phone number out.

A month later I told her to text me because I figured she will change her mind and she said that she isn’t allowed to give her number out. She is a counselor by the way and I just work with her because she is a service coordinator who helps my family and I for services but I am on her Facebook so why wont she give me her number but she has my on Facebook? Should you have everyone’s number of people who are on your Facebook?

basically this person is NOT your friend but some one that has to assist your family in a more professional level than you seem to think.

I have the numbers of the people on my FB but that is because I actually KNOW them..............and if some random asked me for my number the I would have said much the same thing...........why are you so desperate to be able to text this person or be able to call them???

If after asking 2 times and being told NO twice if you continued to labour the point about the phone then honestly I would take you off my FB and would not loose an ounce of sleep over it.

Maybe she added just to have more friends on facebook alot of people do this so when others see their page the people can think wow this person must be cool to have lots of friends like this i should add them and talk to them. Or they do it to boost their own ego i mean almost everyone wants to fit in and be popular. But i dont have evryones who is on my facebook page number and thats just because i dont want to no offense them but not all of them on my fb are closeto me so...and maybe thats why you dont habe her number is because you amd her are not on the friend zone so..

Facebook Friends. I love listening to people brag about how many facebook friends they have. "I have 453 friends on facebook"... WOW! that's pretty impressive, but not really. A facebook friend, the majority, are "friends" without effort, except for when you clicked the accept link. A true friend involves more than an "all about me page". Look up friend in the dictionary:

friend noun
1. a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
2. a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.
3. a person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile.
4. a member of the same nation, party, etc.
5. a member of the Religious Society of Friends; a Quaker.

It appears you are considered a #3 or #4, and this particular facebook friend only gives to phone number who is friend #1. You have reiterated this definition simply by referring to her specifically as a "facebook friend" vs friend. Facebook is ironically funny, because of its social limitations, producing faceless socialization, not to mention a whole other aspect of petty problems. peace.

Because people on Facebook aren't your REAL friends! And she has every right not to give you her phone number. There are all sorts of creepy people on face book. Your information is not safe on there. She doesn't want to risk giving out such personal information. She's trying to preserve her privacy.

Respect her boundaries.
