Why do people take so many pictures of themselves?

My girlfriend drives me crazy. She is always taking pics on Instagram like sometimes every day. Like she'll take one before she goes to work. It's ridiculous. I just wonder do people really care about social media so much? I have never had one. I'm 19 and still thinks it's retarded to see someone's profile and see just pics of themselves all over the place.

People do that because they are either insecure, narcissistic, or fishing.

I agree with you. There is too much focus on social media these days. I can't even buy a potato without someone asking me for my email address or to "like" them on facebook. Okay, so I can buy a potato without doing that but you understand what I mean. If we're spending that much time online, when are we REALLY living?

Sometimes I think that the more pictures a person has of themselves on a social media site, the less I'd like them. Most often, people who do that are very preoccupied with themselves, trying hard to appear really good looking, with facial expressions, poses, clothes, muscles, or really active & popular with as many places they can put themselves in, with lots of people around, or other similar things.

I'd rather they post pictures of other stuff going on around them, not just the ones with them in them. They need to get over themselves.
