How would you describe my political persuasion?

How would you describe my political persuasion?
I am a registered Democrat. However, my many unorthodox positions make me an enigma in my own party and the word "liberal" has never been used to describe me.

On social issues, I tilt to the left. I am pro-choice, I applauded the long-overdue repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, I oppose criminalizing "hate speech," and support giving patients in the final stages of terminal illness the option of phyisician-assisted suicide.

On the domestic front, I am closer to the center. I would authorize the use of the federal death penalty for drug traffickers. I support returning immigration to sustainable levels, prosecuting the mayors of declared "sanctuary cities," and levying harsh fines against businesses that hire illegal immigrants. However, I support giving illegal immigrants currently living in the United States the option of becoming citizens. I support the adoption of English as the official language.

I oppose indefinite detention without trial. I, however, support government surveillance of extremist groups determinted by the Department of Homeland Security to have ties with known terrorist organizations. I am an uncompromising champion of the 2nd Amendment. The right of individuals to keep and bear arms is the people's last line of defense against an oppressive government. I oppose the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act because it is a 35 billion dollar subsidy to the most profitable drug dealer operating in the United States, the American pharmaceutical industry. I support the implementation of a single-payer healthcare system with free choice of doctor and hospital included.

Furthermore, I support congressional term limits, sweeping campaign finance reform, the adoption and ratification of a balanced budget amendment, and replacement of the Electoral College with direct election of the President and Vice President by popular vote. On international policy, I support withdrawing all military presence from foreign soil and recommitting our resources to combating threats within our own borders. I oppose "free trade" agreements that make us uncompetitive in the global market.

Where am I politically?
Carcer, you didn't even read the question, did you? I said at the beginning of the second paragraph that I'm pro-choice.
And the award for Most Hilariously Vague Answer goes to J. D.!

Somewhere between classical liberal and Progressive, I'd say.

Maybe Left-Libertarian. I'd lean toward that for you, actually.

EDIT: And for some reason it won't let me give a thumbs down, so here's a verbal thumbs down to Carcer.

take one of those online political personalty tests.

I just took this one to test its veracity. Apparently I'm Ayn Rand herself:
http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-politic...ity-test-1

The result is HRPI : Horizontalist - Reformist - Progressive - Individualist

I'm a progressive liberal with libertarian leanings. That's probably why.

I am a republican and I don't care enough about your problems to read the whole thing. If you care about yourself and your family, you are a republican.

Surprise surprise , a left wing Republican isn't so dissimilar from a right wing Democrat -- or more simply the political spectrum is continuous , you simply add up th "points" on every issue and the number that comes out defines your basic politics.

You are generally left of centre -- and therefore a Democrat . Since there are no other horses to pick , that's your runner.

You look like a "populist." That was the faction taking control of the Democratic-Republican Party around 1830 when the liberal Whig Party formed from those leaving that party. The populists changed its name to just Democratic Party.

Populists are a rural form of todays urban progressives. Progressives were in the Republican Party a century ago when populists still held the Democratic Party.

When the progressives began taking control of the Democratic Party the populists were shuffled aside and have either moved to the Republican Party with the conservatives and true liberals there or wander confused like you do in the Democratic Party.

Below are accurate definitions. Today in the US most progressives and some socialists fraudulently call themselves "liberal."

True liberalism advocates: individual freedom, weak government, and free markets. Progressives advocate: social concern, omniscient government, and controlled markets. Socialism advocates: social responsibility, omnipresent government, and collective markets. Conservatism advocates: moral responsibility, strong government, and protected markets ("neo-cons" with international businesses have adopted freer market policies).

I do not like calling these left/liberal issues. Though I understand this is how we have been conditioned. To me these have nothing to do with politics and common law/constitution mostly agrees. These are "human" issues:
"On social issues, I tilt to the left. I am pro-choice, I applauded the long-overdue repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, I oppose criminalizing "hate speech," and support giving patients in the final stages of terminal illness the option of phyisician-assisted suicide. "

You are a perfect 3rd party "candidate". A bit libertarian (which is 3rd party too). Socially probably a bit green party, I suspect.

Research: 3rd party candidates (put the whole thing in quotes)
Libertarian
Green Party
Reform Party

There are 7 legally recognized 3 parties as of now. There are more. But ones like the peace party are so small they are irrelevant.

On an unrelated note. If you know how to search websites using another engine (like google) look at publicintelligence.net. Research DHS/FBI. They believe without hesitation if you go to tattoo shops, beauty shops, hobby shops or dozens of other locations you might be a terrorist:
http://publicintelligence.net/fbi-suspic...ng-flyers/ (Search the site for a few hours).

FINALLY, based on some responses. You might look into constitutional party too. However, I do not like Virgil Goode. While some of his stuff is great. The negative to me, does away with the good.

I hope that helps. It requires work on your behalf (study/research).

I keep on thinking of stuff, sorry. Search political quiz/affiliation. I do not agree 100% with everything on this website. But this is a great and nationally recognized "quiz" ("Worlds Smallest Political Quiz")
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz/quiz.ph...ht=100%25#

Since you are registered democratic. You must be somewhat inclined to lean this way a bit more of the time. Look into green party. Sorry this was rehash of what others said.

The problem is the 2 party system/turn key tyranny. It is us vs them... Not rep vs dem.
