I don't think its bad or good do what you wish to do no point following a job you don't want to be in.

Besides technical and marketing can link for example I do web development but that integrates with SEO and social expanding which is marketing a website.

yes in technical field you have to do many hard work and less salary as compare to marketing executive.

So you can switch from tech to marketing but make sure your communication skill should be strong.
