Why are many gay people so 'in your face' with their sexuality?

Because everyone is assumed to be straight until proven otherwise, which is normal I guess but its uncomfortable to have to come out to people every day, all it takes is for someone to say oh your engaged (I am and wear a ring) whats you fiances name, do you lie or tell them she is called Faye? I know as a straight guy you will never understand it and dont think for one second that I am parade attending, marching protestor, not at all, I have a normal life but sometimes its easier to just get it out there then have an akward time later on. Plus most profiles ask your sexuality nowa days so unless u write prefer not to say, which is odd, what else would you put?

I will tell you what IS in your face evry day, Adverts, displaying the most daring and lurid sexuality for straight men. Almost every advert on TV has a sexual connotation. And the Heterosexual male is the one who is targeted or the hetero female. I know of no adverts that openly attract gays in any way. From selling cars to makeup, it's all about sexuality. Anyone who says that homosexuality is being thrust in their face is far from accurate. The only gay person that irritates me intensely is that guy from Pineapple Dance Studios, Louis Spence, who takes the word camp to it's utmost extreme. I am gay, but his very existence irritates the hell out of me.

well, firstly, some people DO state that they're straight. maybe some people just like everyone to be clear on their sexuality so there's no confusion, or so they don't have to get into conversation about it, whatever their orientation is.
secondly, some gay people may be uncomfortable or defensive of their sexuality, as so much discrimination goes on, so they feel the need to look like they're extra confident about it.

who knowsSmile
