What REAL benefits does Facebook offers?

It seems to me that everyone I know only uses Facebook to make new friends or get in touch with old long- lost friends. But is that the only use of Facebook? Everyone seems to be only dumping their own best pictures etc... nothing much else.

I really wish to know what REAL good useful things we can do with Facebook? I can only think of posting ads of biz on Facebook. Really, what else?

Please help me think more positively about the need to have the "must-have" Facebook.

facebook is a fast an easy way to share videos and pics with all of your friends, even those that don't have fb all you have to do is send them the link.
It's also a great way to organize events be notified of your friends birthdays and something to go on when you're bored and have nothing else better to do

I use facebook to stay in contact with my friends and family not everyone is on there to make new friends, I have moved away from my old town and love the fact that I can talk to all my old friends and see what they are up to

It's how I organize parties and make sure people get invited, even people I don't have phone numbers for or see everyday. It's also good way to look up classmates you don't know well if you're working on a project together. If you eye somebody cute, you can look them up and see if they're available or not. There's plenty of applications.

Well, when my father and my brothers mother split up, I lost total contact with my brother. After a year of being nagged to join Facebook, I joined. After that, one day I decided I will look and see what I can find for the immediate people I wanted to get back into contact with. After 9 years, I found my brother. Just thinking about it is bringing tears to my eyes, I missed him so much, now I know that he is safe, and doing well in school. It makes me proud to know that a social networking website, brought us back together. There is a 300 + kilometer difference between our houses, but that doesn't stop us from seeing each other. We have hung out a few times, but mainly talk over the internet.
Facebook, has not only brought me back together with my brother, but it also provided you to meet others(without actually having to meet them, there can be great people and there can be complete @$$holes.) If you have a problem with them, delete and block them, nothing wrong with that. It also provides hours of entertainment, with the games that they can provide. Probably millions to chose from.
