how to self teach french?
hi,
i am post GCSE for french and stand before the enormous task of keeping it up myself and by myself alone, no teacher, just the internet and that. where do i start? what do i focus on and how do i teach myself? I guess the real question is how you do it without anyone else. should i tackle grammar first? verbs? bearing in mind i will be doing a little a night. Ads |

I'd recommend Rosetta Stone, it's really the best self study language method there is.
Also, try and practice with native french speakers if at all possible. |

Like what has already been suggested, go get rosetta stone. I used it for German, currently using it for French, it really works great regardless of what others say.
However if you can't afford it, then I would recommend duolingo.com . It's completely free, and just about the next best thing there is to rosetta stone. |

Before you shell out the money for Rosetta Stone, I'd try this site. It has resources for learning French from the University of Texas, Yale University, Carnegie Mellon, the BBC, the Peace Corps, and The Foreign Service Institute.
