yeah but they may only read random messages (every 15th message sent)

Technically, yes, someone with enough access would be able to pull up this information.
However, to find out "what they read" and "what they don't read" you can review their Privacy Policy which can be found below. |

Yes, theoretically, they can. But then, the number of messages generated per day on Facebook is so massively huge, that they wouldn't bother reading them anyway. After all, Facebook has only a few hundred employees, and they'd rather spend their days on keeping the site up and running and selling advertisements than randomly reading people's messages.

Yes they may read you messages it's in their privacy policy, but there are so many messages been sent each day, that only a small percentage get read out in total, about 1%.
