Turn the computer off. Do something else, anything.

There's nothing wrong with using a computer to kill some time, but as with everything else in the world, moderation is the key. I couldn't live without a computer anymore. I always watch 1 or 2 episodes from a series in the evening, but when I get swamped with commercials, I get the same feeling that I'm wasting time. So for that, thank god there's netflix!

If you have a phone or tablet that's full of apps for facebook, twitter and so on, simply remove the apps. It is a bit of a habbit to get behind a computer, or call it an addiction, and it takes some conscious effort to make a change.
I suggest you just make sure that you don't have "empty time" in which you are drawn to your technology. Pick up a hobby, go do a sport, build a model plane, spend some time with the kids, cook something, call someone instead of updating your status message, write in a diary, paint, read a book, do some gardening and grow your own veggies, go take the dog for a walk, play a board game with some friends... there's so much to do that it can't be that hard to shift your focus away from your computer / mobile.

I could go on and on, and if you think about it, all these things are either more productive, healthier, more social than staring at a screen.

The biggest problem is, if you're hooked, you really have to make a conscious effort. Don't throw out all technology, but set a time for example that you can only spend time online between 8 and 9, and you have to prioritize and ditch the unproductive things you used to do... facebook/twitter/aimless surfing/going from one youtube to the next/click-a-d-click.

Burn all your movies, videos, and entertainment material to external drive; and free these from your local drive.

Boycott time wasting social networking site except Yahoo Answer Smile [for knowledge]

You might love to check this an amazing Google Chrome Extension i.e. Stay Focused which is not really helpful in case of Facebook, but other social sites too

StayFocusd is a productivity extension for Google Chrome which let you stay focused on work by restricting the amount of time you can spend on time-wasting websites. Once the time which you allotted for a particular website is up, the website which is blocked by you become inaccessible for the rest of the day.
