Why do you hate one direction? What did they do to you :(?

Okay let me just flip this around and ask you this; why do people like you proclaim to 'love' them so much? They have done nothing truly inspiring in their career. They have not tried to changed the music industry and experiment new sounds unlike bands such as Pink Floyd and The Beatles who experimented with their music and provided something new for their fans. Instead they have just been confined with the same pop music that has plagued the music industry for years and that arguably any 'good looking' bunch of teenagers can do. You've got to understand that the things that they 'do', it's not hard. Most of their music are written by other people, the only thing that they do really well is refining their image, appealing to their target audience, i.e teenagers. That I give them immense credit for, they're great at communicating and establishing a fan base, but apart from that they're not much good at anything else.

Furthermore their fans have the audacity to compare this group of teenagers to the music greats who were truly inspiring and actually revolutionized music during their time. 'Dark Side Of The Moon' by Pink Floyd is one of the best selling albums in history not because the band was full of teenagers who were mildly attractive, but because they provided a sound that no other artists had before them. They were unique.

There are, and always will be, hundreds of boy bands like One direction. They are nothing remarkable or special, I remember the craze with 'The Wanted' a few years back and I ask you now, how many of you still remember they exist?

I am not trying to say that One Direction members are not talented, they obviously are talented at some level, but I find it almost inexplicable and laughable when their fans lash out at anyone who consider them subpar. They send death wishes, and insult them to no end and then turn around and say that people who hate One Direction are unreasonable? People like me find that incredible ignorant and childish. The fan base can't take any criticism of their idols no matter how fair that criticism is, and that's simply pathetic.

There are some many other artists and bands out there who deserve your attention, who are trying to provide something new and actually contribute to the industry. But despite this, they're completely eclipsed by boy bands who are the product of nothing more than clever marketing.

So to answer your question, most people don't 'hate' One Direction. Most people hate their fans, because they are ignorant, obsessive, blind and just completely unreasonable. They think that they are in some lovely, delusional 'family' because they all love One Direction, and in my honest opinion, I find that completely pathetic. Most of you won't even remember this band in a few years time. There'll be a newer, more popular band that you'll all flock to like sheep because everyone else likes them. You'll all be brainwashed again by a marketing industry that pumps out band after band, year after year, trying to squeeze as much money as they can before the band fades into obscurity.

Have some self respect and branch out on your individuality, don't just 'like' a band because it's the social norm to do so for heaven's sake.
