Real work concerns help?
Hello

I am having some real concerns about work at the moment and hope someone can help.

I have been informed that I have been charged with serious misconduct based on comments made on my Facebook page.

I am off work due to stress and have informed the police my Facebook account page was hacked.

However I am due to go into a meeting at some stage soon about this and am absolutely dreading it.

If work did find me guilty of posting these comments, despite the fact I did not, what will happen to me?

I am so scared about going to prison as I have never had any dealings with the police before and have all sorts of thoughts going through my mind at this time.

I have even contemplated ending it all, such is my worry. I could not face going to prison for something I have not done.

I just want an end to this nightmare.

Firstly, your workplace cannot send you to prison (unless you are in the services, or the police). Neither can they 'charge' you with an offence in the legal sense. They can accuse you of behaving unprofessionally, or contrary to the conditions of your employment, for which the worst they can do is fire you for gross misconduct.

Unless you posted official government secrets on Facebook, or something along those lines, there is no way you would go to prison for this, even if guilty. Remember too, that YOU contacted the police, not your employer.

If you didn't post these comments, then simply deny doing so, and keep on denying it.

You're not likely to go to prison unless you have been threatening, bullying, or harassing some one on line.
The police can't really do any thing about your face book account being hacked so you should report it the hacking face book.
In the meeting you should explain that your face book account was hacked and that you will close the account.
You have to be care full about what you post on line in, employers often google or look people up on face book to see whom they are really employing.
Stay away from face book until this blows over.

Get a grip. How could you possibly go to Prison, it is not a crime, no one is going to take you to Court. It could be looked on as Gross Misconduct but all they can do is sack you.
Keep denying it and ask them to prove it was you.
I have worked for HMP and you are NOT going to end up there, it is too minor even for the Police to bother with it.
