Since his supporters are so upset about the factionalist infighting between him and Gulenists, I think he wants to appease the Islamists in Turkey by banning access to pornography and ''un-Islamic'' websites.

He wants to have everything "under his control". When the Gezi protests began, all ppl communicated on twitter, face etc. and shared info.
