Setting Up A Home Food Business?
Hi,
Myself and my wife are thinking of setting up a home food business. We got plans for website and facebook page and are aware we need to register the food business with local council who will then register it with the Food Standards Agency. We got this information off our local borough councils website. Not sure on what our earnings will be but I had been advised still need to be registered for Tax and VAT. Does anyone know what important things must be done to run business honestly and also what the current tax threshold is before you need to start paying tax and/or VAT (maximum you can earn before paying tax/VAT) Thank you in advance for your helpful answers. Cheers, Steven Ads |

You do not have to register for vat until your turnover exceeds over, i think the last figure i saw was 73k a year or very close to that.
Note, things are not quite as simple as you say above. You are not allowed to sell food stuffs prepared in a normal domestic kitchen, you need proper catering equipment. |
