Selfies on Facebook?

What's with those of you who constantly post selfies on Facebook. We didn't even have the word selfies before. But because you're flooding my freakin wall with pics of yourself we had to invent a word for it.
So what's up with it? I'm older and even some of MY friends do it. Why???

People want to be seen. They are basically attention hos, so they take selfies hoping to get a huge amount of likes. If they don't get likes, they get depressed. IMO, it's a stupid practice. I never have, and never will, post a selfie. Come to think of it, I don't have ANY pictures of me up on Facebook or any other social media. The closest I have come to posting a selfie is a picture of my feet up on a table on my condo's balcony with the ocean in the background.

I'm sick of seeing all of the selfies taken in bathroom mirrors or the ones with the phone held at arms length so the poser could do "duck face" shots.
