Why is my generation so messed up?

Why is my generation so messed up?
Okay, I am 13 (Yes, I am a part of this generation...) and I am getting tired of hearing about all of the crap that people my age are doing today. It is just sickening. What is the problem? (That is a rhetorical question by the way) If we know what the problem is, then why are we not stopping it? I understand that Generation Y wasn't good either and most kids today are raised from parents from that generation. Personally, I think that some of the problem is that people my age are on their phone all of the time. Another factor is that the education that kids are receiving today is a load of bull. They are taught that everything is okay and that if you can dream it, then you can do it. When I was taught that in school, I asked the teacher, "What if we had a dream about flying?" You know what she did? She sent me to the office and I got a one and a half hour detention for discriminating the school. (Luckily I am in a Private School now) Another factor to this is that our "President' Barack Hussein Obama is not contributing to anything. It is just sickening. I do understand that he had a huge mess to clean up, but it is what? 6 years into his presidency and what has he done? Why is abortion okay? Apparently it is okay to kill a 7 month old baby, but it is really bad to chop a tree down. And I understand that there are exceptions to the rule. But, what is this promoting? Murder? If you didn't want to get pregnant, then why did you have unprotected sex in the first place? Oh wait, because it feels good. If it feels good, then it has to be fine for us. What about phones? Did you know that 80% of teens are on their phone constantly. That they go to bed with their phone? Don't get me wrong, I like technology. In fact, I want to be a computer scientist. I just think it is utterly disgusting that kids are constantly on their phone. Constantly. Phones used to have one purpose: To call. Then texting came out. Then the internet on the phone. Then apps. Then social media. And now this is where we are today. God forbid some of the parents take away the phones. No. They would feel wrong after doing that. They would feel that they emotionally scarred the child. I would like to know if I have a perfect view on this generation today or not. It is getting really bad. And after a little while of this, how do you think America is going to be in the 2030s? 2040s? 2050s?
Why would I join them. Then I would be hypocritical.
If I wanted to join them. What part of my generation looks appealing?
I do agree, but, I was going from an extreme to a minimal point. I am pretty sure what you understood from that but, If not, what I meant was that Liberal people will go out of their way to save a tree. But when It comes to killing a baby, it is perfectly fine.
No I am not saying that they should tell us that. But they should tell us to be realistic. But who knows, maybe that person will be the next world leader. Or basketball player. Or celebrity.
And I was in an extremely crappy mood when I wrote this. It helped vent off some steam... Lol. I feel better now. And I do have a lot facts wrong, but I was looking at it from a more figurative perspective. Not literal.
And a doctor is a dream that I do believe can come true. We have a need for doctors. Not so much on the NBA players.

I agree with some of what you said but at the same time I think you're very naive on certain aspects. Trying to compare environmental issues (trees) to abortion is ridiculous... I think there are some things we don't get taught in school that we should, ie: environment... because plastic is awful for it but I won't get into that now (you have the internet, you can Google it).

I agree with the cellphones aspect tho... humans are becoming slaves to digital technology. Cell phones, the IDEA, is great. Problem is now that cellphones have so much to them, games, cameras... and I don't wanna say texting, because texting can be useful, but it does become a problem when people can't limit themselves and they send 1000 texts a day.

Also one more thing.... an abortion in the third trimester is against the law (federally) unless the womens life is in danger ( http://www.abort73.com/abortion_facts/us_abortion_law/ )... so really, they can't abort babies seven months in.

Also the reason you prolly got sent to the office was because you were being a smart-a**... words can be used in multiple ways, really "if you can dream it" doesn't mean flying around in lucid dreams, it means like your big goals in life, ie: making the NBA. Should they tell us that, no, we can't do anything... we have to conform to societies norms and live in a casta system? Should they tell us were not sh...t? The educational system ain't perfect in countries like the USA and Canada, but it's free and a lot better then most countries around the world.

Also another "check your facts" thing; teenage pregnancy rates now are lower then compared to the 70's through 90's, so it's not a generational problem that is getting worse.

EDIT: I know what you mean as "false hope" is never good, but typically people seem to have dreams they can reach if they work hard enough and the cards fall into place. For example if someone dreams to become a doctor, then that is a very achievable dream. Becoming an NBA player is a lot more difficult as there are only 200-something of them, whereas there are a lot more doctors... but it's still a dream that ain't impossible to achieve.

EDIT2: Yeah I know venting is good sometimes, can help clear your head and thoughts.

I don't think your generation is that bad. In fact each generation is getting smarter in the measurement of IQ. Each generation comes up with new things like new computers and etc. Maybe it's the meme's. No, not the pictures you see everywhere, but the real definition of the word "Meme." You might not be able to relate to the newer generations and just coin them as "Messed up." My Grand dad liked a certain type of music and told my dad his was crap, and as you may guess, my dad thinks my music is crap and I quote - "Crap you new people come up with, it's like you have no brain at all! What the hell! I remember when we weren't so messed up and we actually made good tunes!"

As a society we transform and you may not like the new social norms and find them "Messed up." But as I can see it, we are moving forward. My evidence is history.

Remember those damn hippies? Smoking pot all day? Shit, they would never amount to anything and just bring the world to shit. Hmmm.

Right? Sure we have the potential of being smarter IQ wise but the sad truth is a lot of us just don't want to do it. My dad HATES our gen because of the things that we do now. We don't want to get a job but want $300Jordan's and an STi, we think appearance is better than personality, love is just another word now, we wear hats in buildings, love to sag, peer pressure the hell out of others to do something they don't want to and get all hostile when they don't, no future plans, we'd choose to f*ck, smoke, drink, party and get "turnt up" rather than focus on studying and getting into a good college. The list just goes on and sadly, I agree with him. While people aren't perfect in general, why is it that our generation seems to be the worst out of all? Sometimes I feel like I wasn't supposed to be born in this generation. I believe it's the technology that changed out gen Tongue Technology in America used to just be a tool. Today it's just becoming part of our everyday lives in a bad way.
