Will an Ebay seller get in trouble if I open a case?
I received the wrong color of an item, and I didn't mind too much until the seller neglected to give clear instructions on how to put on the item after I asked. The seller promised a full refund including shipping costs. This was NOT through the Ebay resolution center. The seller asked that I not open a case, and I learned it was because sellers get hurt when the case goes AGAINST them and because the case would make me pay the return postage. However, I just read an article about an Ebay seller who had a seller promise to return her an item, but stopped communicating when the deadline to open a case passed. I don't want that to happen to me, but what if I open a case, and the seller refuses to carry out the same deal, and I lose my postage money? If I open a case now as safety net in case the seller does not keep his promise, and I receive for my promised full refund, is there a way to close the case in a way that does not hurt the seller? The problem is, my return package will have a
(continuing) will have arrived after the case deadline, and I don't want to be scammed, but I don't want to hurt the seller either.

I have reported a seller not returning money into my account and I reported it and they looked into the seller and found him unreliable in returns and they stopped him selling from that ebay But the seller had many different addresses, so just carry on selling. Regarding the deadline I would try and retrieve you money regardless of the time line as the seller tried to hold you up with promises.I did get my full refund, I'm also not sure if you will get your PP back

I hope this helps

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS open a case.

IF the case is settled to your satisfaction, then the seller receives NO negative or anything "against them" at all! The case is dropped and it disappears from their records.

Go to the auction listing.

Scroll toward the bottom of the listing page to "Questions and answers about this item". (near the bottom of the page)

Click: Ask a question.

If the item was faulty, choose 'Item I received is not as described'.

An automatic claim process will begin, where you can negotiate the return of the item.

Remember that you have only 45 days from the purchase date to file for any kind of refund.

The seller will be given an option to refund the item plus return shipping, that much is up to the seller.
If you receive your full refund, you can close the case.

If the seller doesn't 'click' that option, or says that they 'can't' then you can wait the required number of days (for you guys to work it out) and 'escalate' the case. At that point an eBay rep will decide and may issue a full refund and or send you a pdf to print out a return postage for the item.

In your communication to the Seller, be professional (Just the facts maam). State your case as if you were talking to a rep and not writing directly to the seller.

"I received the wrong color of an item. The seller promised a full refund including shipping costs."

That is ALL you need to write. Good luck.
