Need further insight. Question for strippers? Do my feelings relate?
How do you (strippers) feel dancing on stage in a club?

I ask because for my college anthropology class we were assigned to do an ethnography on societal sex and gender roles. Ended up interviewing a stripper at a local club. I only got some base questions answered about the industry as she didn't want to talk about herself much no matter how I tried asking. To really understand what she went through she said I needed to experience it myself and on one of her shifts we met up so I (as a customer) could observe her working. Next she invited me to dance with her on stage (I'm a girl btw). So I was a stripper for a half hour, albeit I kept my clothes on whereas she was nude (awkward). Pretty much I just spun on the pole and...pantomimed sex acts with her on stage.

For myself I can say the brief experience was odd. As a customer watching I didn't feel like some of the happy men there, guess because I'm female too. Some women I've heard like feeling sexy dancing, but I didn't feel like that at all on the flip-side as a stripper. I felt more awkward and gross after it was done. Seeing the girl I interviewed, she actually seemed to enjoy it.

Still need more valid experiences to include in my paper. What is it usually like for most other strippers? How does my experience relate? Do some actually enjoy it?

I love my job, but I try to avoid the word "stripper" as it sounds trashy and there's more to it than being naked. Being on stage is my favorite part next to the cashout at the end of the night, lol. I'd be glad to discuss it further and answer any questions you have in detail.
