I would stop right behind the cat, put on my flashers, take the blanket I keep in the car, and go rescue the cat and take it to my vet. I most likely would end up keeping the cat. I have a number of rescue cats, one survived brain damage after being ht by a car, a second survived a pelvic fracture and peripheral nerve damage after being hit by a car and both healed well enough to have good quality lives. Pictured is Splat Cat, the rescue cat who survived brain damage from being hit by a car.
