Are cashback offers a "rip-off"?

After 3 months, 10 e-mails and the threat of legal action I am still waiting for a GBP 25.00 cashback.

Check the terms of the cash back. Quite often it is something you get after a set time on the contract or whatever, it is even sometimes a deduction in a monthly charge over a period. If it was a definite £25 cash back after whatever then keep pushing but I would check the terms again to be sure.

well for a start who's cash do you think it is it's certainly not theirs you are paying for it yourself they could just as well knock it off the price same thing and if they say they are paying it they must so you are being ripped off

Not all are rip offs but the one you signed up for seems to be. If you have been waiting 3 months and have even threatened them with legal action you can safely forget it now. Nobody goes to court over £25 as it will cost you a lot more than that to go to court - and they know it so you can kiss that cashback offer goodbye now.

Not directly. Companies rely on people forgetting about them or they make the process so long winded that people give up and don't claim the cash back.
I can never see why anyone would buy something and wait 3 months to get cash back. Find a place that sells at a lower price in the first place. You then get interest on the cash you leave in the bank instead of letting the company have the benefit.
