Noob question : Can I actually buy a new modem?

...instead of using my internet provider's default modem? I really don't want to use the default one because it's buggy and slow.

If I can actually buy a new modem what do I do with the new modem? Do I have to manually set it up?

I'm dumb when it comes to modem and stuff so all helps are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You certainly can yget a new modem. Yes you will have to set it up as well. Both on a software level and by plugging it in lol. Not really hard but not for a complete newbie.

you may have to put in all your network information pppoe username and password
You have to punch in all setting like wireless password.

There are diffrent builds, but unless they are supported by the provider Im afriad not, or they may raise the price quite a bit, you can look into alternate builds they will provide.

Yes you can buy a new modem. But I would really suggest you look into other solutions first. Call your internet provider and tell them your issues and ask what can be done. Maybe its your router and not your modem, maybe you have adware or a virus on your computer.
