Advertising For Dummies? Help !?

I recently started a new job in which one of my duties is being in charge of social network advertising. My boss isn't giving me much to start with. He says DONT send promotional emails to his email contacts, he DOES NOT want to pay for facebook advertising, I thought of using twitter to attract customers and he has ZERO followers & I have no clue how to get actual followers that would be interested in our business services, I asked for clientele recommendations & he tells me to "work my magic" whatever the hell that means. Im trying to work a miracle, & I have nothing to start with. can someone help ?? I don't want my boss to think I cant deliver.

Edit: we are an authorized retail company for DirecTv, Dish Network, Cox Cable, Time Warner, & Exeded Satellite internet. If you cant answer my question, at least like our facebook page & follow our twitter.

Well you can try Direct Mail Advertising. You can search Print and Mail 4 U in google to learn more about how to advertise using direct mails and why companies prefer this than emails.
