Join your local camera club that has competitions judged by people who understand how to properly critique an image.

Glad to see you realize that Instagram is a kid's playground full of garbage.
Two such sites you would like are Photo.net and PhotoSig. http://photo.net http://www.photosig.com NOTE: Neither of the two sites above are dump sites for any and all you want to upload. You are very limited in what you can upload on the sites until you have obtained good critique on your work and participation on your part. Prepare to enter the world of real photography instead of having to see hoards of idiotic "effects" on selphies on Instagram. steve ADD: I have to respectfully disagree somewhat with Perki88 on this. Not all camera clubs are created equal. The one I was in had photo competitions and frankly, 99% of the people there really had no clue how to judge a photo. It was more of a mutual admiration society to not hurt anyone's feelings. A baby picture of someones kid, no matter how terrible the photo was, would always win over a truly well composed, well exposed, technically correct and interesting photo. I think you CAN learn a great deal from a GOOD site such as Photo.net and Photosig. Strangers are not going to pander to you or give you good critique just because you are a friend. |
