Problems installing latest version of Google Chrome?

Ok, I currently have version Google Chrome 1.0.154.43 but on FileHippo.com their is a new version (Google Chrome 1.2.133.37).

Now the weird thing is when you go in to Google Chrome and select About Google Chrome it says Google Chrome is up to date (1.0.154.43).

Ok, so when I try to install the new version, it downloads then goes to install then suddenly dissapears off my screen??

Anyone else had this problem?

I initially believed that this file was a virus because I know that the latest version of Google Chrome is 1.0.154.43, however, this may put your mind at rest.

The file that is on FileHippo appears to only be the Google Chrome updater program and not an installer for Google Chrome.

So it is the updater that is version 1.2.133.37 and not Google Chrome. Also the file on FileHippo is signed by Google so it looks to be legit.

That said, I would not advise downloading files from web sites like FileHippo in future if there is more trusted source like the official Google web site available.
