Which is better adwords or SEO?

Adwords or SEO is two different methods to use to get traffic on the internet. Adwords is a google campaign and its surely display on google results on top. But SEO is a way to work on backlinking and to get results on google search engine. I think best ways is SEO because its result appear lately but its not costly but if a good SEO firm work for you you get good results on Google.

According to me Adwords is better because it will surely generate traffic on website. But it is costly than SEO.
