How discreet is Ebay?

I'm ordering some funky Christmas presents but I have a nosy family. I know that the person I am buying from will do the shipping, but I'd like to get some feedback on how discreet of a box an Ebay purchase normally arrives in. Thanks!

Each independent seller is different and has their own way of packaging items. Much of the time the product will be in a new, clean box with just the mailing label identifying where it came from (including the name of the sender). But not always. Do not be surprised to see the label slapped on the actual retail box, or some ugly leftover box scrounged up from the garage. Ask the seller before bidding if this is important to you.
