Why doesn't my internet connection appear to work with Internet Explorer?

I switched to Firefox a couple years ago and I've noticed by internet connection no longer works with Internet Explorer. Whether I open the IE browser, or whether something else uses it, like Windows Media Player, ect. it doesn't work and it says there is no internet connection. I've tried updating to a new IE, but it doesn't update. It'll finish the installation, but nothing changes.

Yu need to check Internet options (tools/internet options/connection) and ensure there are no connections shown. Form there go to the LAN section and ensure the tick boxes for all proxy settings are turned OFF.
