Why don't my facebook friends talk to me?

I moved from France to Chicago two months ago for a job. Anyways, I use to have some old high school and college friends that would like my profile picture when I changed it or like my status. But since I moved to Chicago to start a new life, they don't really like my profile pictures on talk to me on facebook. I moved permanently to the states, and won't be returning to france for a while. But i wonder, do they feel they won't see me again so there is no point to like my status? Is this normal or odd for people to do this when you move?

Not at all. I know from experience since I've moved a lot.
They just don't think that they need to impress you or put in the effort to have you like them anymore.
Make new friends.
When you go back to France they're going to be rushing back to you and saying that they missed you so much.
And they're going to ask why you haven't kept in touch.
