steam game questions?
I have recently purchased some game DVDs from a local retailer
Counter strike global offensive call of duty modern warfare 3 dead island operation flashpoint red river saints row iv gta iv so. i tried to install cs go, cod mw3, and dead island and i am facing the same problem in each one everytime i try to install these games, they start downloading from steam. i have a really slow and limited internet connection , so i hate this dead island installs almost 50% and then says that the rest of it will be downloaded and updated from steam. same as counter strike and modern warfare I dont want steam to download anything, because i have a very slow connection . is there anyway to directly install all these games from the DVDs? i dont want anything updated kindly help thanks... Steam is like the best pc gaming service out there, but sometimes its kind of tricky to use and pisses off many people...
The games you listed all require steam to play actually. Once youve instalked the game with the disk which you bought from the retailer youll have to update through steam. Unfortunately the only way i can think of is to reinstall the fmgame or leave them to update overnight. ![]() The update meter is known to freeze so dont really rely on it. ![]() Also, try contacting the steam support or return the games to your retailer if they dont work. Hope i helped Ads |

This is something that is still being evaluated, though I am not really sure if it has taken affect across all Steam accounts.
I have the same problem. Some of my disc copies will not install from the disc anymore. The way I understand it is the nice Steam people have "discontinued" certain games so they must be downloaded no matter what. Although, wait just a moment - you mentioned GTAIV, but the disc version of that game does not install through Steam. And wow, they already did this to SRIV - holy crap!! I'm more than certain that this is what your problem is. There's nothing you can do about it. I was so outraged by it that I sent my games back to the place where I ordered them from. |
