If stealing someone elses pictures on facebook and claiming its you is that identity theft or against the law?
ok so i NEED this matter looked into i need answers on this, there are 10 to 15 people on facebook stealing my pics and pretending to be me! this MUST Be against the law right? should i call the cops?

When you post your pics on Facebook they become public domain and there is nothing you can do about it unless your image is being used for profit.
Didn't your parents teach you about posting photos of yourself on the internet? .. |

Depends on the purpose - it differs. What is posted on the Internet becomes public property.

It's not identity theft. It's impersonation. It may be against FACEBOOK rules to impersonate others, but it is not against the LAW unless they are using your credit cards or taking out loans under your name or using your images for commercial purposes.
If none of those things are happening, the most the cops will do is laugh at you. They aren't the Facebook police. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it is or should be illegal. |
