Why can't I factory reset my macbook pro?
I'm trying to reset my macbook pro retina. I backed it up, then shut it off, turned it back on holding the option key and then pressed recovery hd, after a while it had an alert saying " The OS X installation couldn't be completed". Under it it had a text and 4 options, Shut Down, Restart, Save Log, View Log.

However after showing the alert it immediately shut down, not allowing me to press anything. Why is this happening? Help please!

Test to be sure the current installation of Mac OS is fine. In other words, restart normally, without holding any keys.

Does that allow a normal startup???????
If so, restart while holding command and R keys for 45 seconds.
– Open Disk Utility, and "Repair Disk".
– Next, quit Disk Utility, and choose "Reinstall Mac OS X".

If your Internet connection is slow, you can take it to Starbucks for the installation– They have a faster network.
