is there a live Facebook messenger app for Android?
I don't want it to be setup like private messaging. I want I one that tells me who is online and brings up a chat window. Please thank you

Yeah, the Facebook app for Android will do that, or there's also the Facebook Messenger app also developed by Facebook.
