If I am going to send bitcoins to a bitcoin address, one that looks like 3xydgs3r84532Xyd etc... is there any way to know what website im sending it to? i owe my friend money and he wants me to send him bitcoins to this address but basically im asking

is there a way I can check to see that its going to his coinbase account rather than silkroad?

nope! That's the beauty of BTC or any crypto currency. It's anonymous and just like cash!
Give someone 20$ and you'll have no idea what bank they deposit it in.
