Can computer virus' interupt your internet connection?

My norton's been down for a few days now and all the sudden my internet connection stops working multiple times throughout the day, is it because my norton is down and i might have a virus? Can a virus interupt internet connections?

Yes. But based off of your questions, it sounds like your internet connection problem may be a bad router. Do an anti-virus/anti-malware scan just in case. To be honest I would go buy a new router and test it out, if your internet connection stabilizes, it's the router. If it is still unstable, return the router and contact AT&T and have your line looked at.

A computer virus is a program which can be transmitted between computers via networks (especially the Internet) or removable storage such as CDs, USB drives, floppy disks, etc., generally without the knowledge or consent of the recipient who is actually helping it spread.

Since it is a program then yes it could potentially interrupt your connection to the Internet.

I suggest you restart your computer an boot in safe mode then run the anti-virus to see if you have been infected, i would also suggest you delete any files unknown to you that might come up in the anti-virus prompt.

Yes and if you have more then one virus programs on your pc it while fight to see whats one is the straighter too and i've been using for me virus and spy-wear and malware all in one program for t he last 5 months and i've had not trouble with virus and etc in my laptop and desktop too ...

Can it? Sure, since the connection runs through software. Not likely, though, if it disconnects, reconnects, disconnects, etc. A virus would usually just keep it from working. Is it, in your case? Most likely not. Call your provider. (If you have Verizon DSL, don't bother - that's typical of them, and one of the two reasons I'm still with a much more expensive cable provider. Totally incompetent [and that's high praise] tech support is the other.)
