Does Assassins Creed 2 still require DRM/ Permanent Internet connection?

I heard they might have changed it so how does it work at the moment? This is for PC. I am used to playing games that require Internet connection like WoW and Starcraft 2 so will it affect me alot?

It says at the very bottom that permanent Internet was patched out of the game so thanks for the site.
