Is my google hacked?
I live in vermont, and I recently wanted to check activity on my account. I found that on the 2nd of this month, my mail was accessed from an iPhone, but from a IP address in New York. I was out of the house at this date, but not in New York. I set up 2 step security just now and changed my password. Could this possibly be a mistake, and the IP address was really NOT in New York? Also it is really weird because google chrome just changed my theme to one I downloaded awhile ago. PLEASE HELP

If you have an iPhone yourself and you were near NY with mobile data on, your mobile provider may have set the location as 'New York'. This can also happen if your provider is based in NY.
If you've already changed your password, don't be too worried; you've already done the best thing you could do, and Google will say the same if you contact them. If you haven't changed your password, CHANGE IT! Oh, and two-step security doesn't work with email clients- it only works on the Google site. Enabling it will have no effect whatsoever on the behavior of your email when you access it from the Mail app on an iPhone, Outlook, etc. Ads |
