Faster internet speed mean using more data ?
I am on a 8mb/s ADSL plan.
If a higher speed internet was ever available like 100mb/s BUT my usage stayed the same, would I use more data each month ? Ads |

if you used the same amount of data, you would use the same amount of data. It just got to you quicker

No you wouldn't. It would just affect speed. I accidentally gave princess a thumbs up. but she's wrong.

Most plans are based on the amount of data, not the speed of the data, It would be like if you had a plan that allowed you 5 "gallons" of data at a month. Whether you took that data 1 teaspoon at a time or 1 quart at a time, you would still have to stop when you had 5 gallons.
Whether you take your data 1mb a minute or 10 mb a minute, you still have to stop when you have a total of 100 mbs downloaded. |

Usage = the amount of data that you use.
If you state in your question that your usage would remain the same, how would you use more data? Generally speaking, people on faster connections have a higher usage because their habits change. You can download higher quality video in a shorter amount of time... so why stick with the low quality? Same goes for music and so on. Since you don't have to wait so much for things on the itnernet to come in, you get less annoyed and you tend to spend more time, or you just do much more in the same amount of time that you spend online. |

The answer to this question is not easy.
Just having a faster connection does not mean that you will use more data. However waiting less (because of the faster connection) and clicking more (because you do not have to wait for downloads) means that you will probably actually download more. |
