SEO: Does Google take results from Yahoo's directory?
I understood that if you submit to Yahoo's Directory, Google will index sites found on Yahoo Directory.

However, when you look at the tool http://www.search-this.com/search-engine-decoder/ , it shows Google and Yahoo have no relationship.

Can someone please explain?

You're correct that Google and Yahoo does not have a relationship. Google picks up from DMOZ.org or the Open Directory Project http://www.dmoz.org and not from Yahoo Directory

For example, if your webpage does not have a meta description tag, which Google uses in its snippet for the search engine, then it picks up from DMOZ

For example:

Family Facts: Social Science Research on Family, Society & Religion
Sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, this site presents findings on the family, society and religion from peer-reviewed journals, books and government ...
http://www.familyfacts.org - 11k - Cached - Similar pages

If you look at this site, it does not have the meta description tag. So Google picked up the description from DMOZ

http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?se...AMILYFACTS
familyfacts.org - Sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, this site presents findings on the family, society and religion from peer-reviewed journals, books and government surveys.
-- http://www.familyfacts.org Society: Issues: Children, Youth and Family (1)

Google uses DMOZ for their Google Directory http://www.google.com/support/webmasters...pic=&type=

Google uses something called a 'spider' to search the web and find new sites and new pages on sites. One of the factors that they use to decide how to rank a site is by how many inbound links a site has to it and the quality of those links. A link from the Yahoo directory is considered pretty high quality and could be worth the $299 per year if you feel your site will generate sales based on the improved rank.
