Have you given up or never got involved with "social media" due to privacy concerns?
I do not use them and am wondering how to avoid google, which is hard to do, especially since they bought you tube.

I gave up on FB bc I kept getting a virus that knocked out all my computer's security software. In addition to having to reload the programs I had bought, I also had to download MS Security twice, and well, since I do all my banking, bill paying and a lot of my purchases online, that was enough of that. I won't go there again.

The others I haven't tried. I stick to Answers for now.

No. I know it's there, but it doesn't bother me, nor does it make me be any different. 'Iyam what a yam'. If they don't know me by now! hahahaha

I have facebook...in a fake name, reigistered to a bogus address and all my activities on it take place in closed groups. I kind of was compelled to get a page once my kids were active on it to keep track of what they were doing and who they were talking with. The kids have turned out to be fairly dull and well behaved and require little monitoring but along the way i got sucked in with a large group of (mostly former) Yahooers....we operate out of several closed groups and just troll the bejesus out of one another and it's a lot of fun.

So while yes I do object massively to it in many ways I also avail myself of it in ways which I hope ensure me a little more privacy than is generally found there.

Twatter I have no notion of why people bother with. I do not need to know when someone leaves the house for toilet paper. My space is great for music but no one i know has a page.

I have failed to see the point behind twitter or facebook.

But how much privacy can be expected, when you broadcast your entire life for public consumption?

Yes. Sorry my "Question" may be of your topic. Do you know or have opinion over World Wide International Zeitgeist movement? http://www.zeitgeistmovingforward.com/

TWITTER
FACEBOOK
GOOGLE
Is there really any privacy with those sites as one tell all to all, like reading Days of Our lives, As the World Turns, all rolled into one Drama Queen event.
