Is twitter just a means of abusing people and being rude?

I am selective about who i follow on Twitter so perhaps I'm missing the hatred. Or perhaps I haven't noticed it because I tend to use Facebook over Twitter.

Anyone who posts hate you can Unfollow and then it won't bother you anymore

it's not JUST a means of abusing people. there are a lot of really nice people on twitter who are being genuine when they're just using it to "socialise" with others. but yes, it does give a platform to the creeps and trolls of this world who have absolutely nothing better to do.

giving your opinion on something is absolutely 100% fine. but it's when you start baiting/abusing someone by tweeting them directly that it crosses that line.

(in saying that though, my honest opinion is that zayn should man up a bit. if he's going to be in the public eye, and going to be in a boyband like one direction especially, then he's GOING to get some level of hate. you will NOT last long in the music industry if you don't have a thick skin. gary barlow got sick and twisted abuse over the death of his daughter and he's still on twitter. tom daley got sick and twisted abuse over the death of his father aswell as receiving death threats and he's still on twitter. what exactly has been sent to zayn, "you're gay"...??? block them, and IGNORE.)

Yes. I don't know if people are more monstrous and stupid now, or it's just that they broadcast it to the world, but I don't want to see it. Nuke Twitter, for the good of humanity.
