Just read a book on Twitter called "The Twitter Book" - Tim O'Reilly. He wrote that you should start slow and not be a serial Twitterer twitting every hour. About 4 post a day is good except if covering an event in which cause us a hash tag. You need to fill out profile and put a picture up. That's important if you want followers. Twitter gets you followers if you're interesting. I highly recommend the book. I just got an account myself and the book was a great help. It's easy to ready and you can finish it in a day.
