How can people have 800 plus friends on Facebook?

They don't actually have that many friends. These people are friend requesting or accepting basically anyone they ever met. Such as everyone that attended their high school, college, coworkers, etc. I know plenty of people like this. They just love all the attention and collecting "friends". They don't actually associate with even half of those people. I only add people I typically know in real life. I think I only have about 100 friends on my page. But I collected a bunch more when I was in college because I added many people I had classes with.
