how to add facebook friends that say subscribe?

I recently found a old friend on Facebook who I haven't talked to in many years. Her profile does not have a 'add friend' button it just has a button that says 'subscribe'. I would like to add her as a friend, how can I go about doing this?

you would have to have some mutual friends with her - she has he settings set up to not allow strangers to add her as a friend

try sending her a message (if you can) - other than that, there is no way to get around her desire to not have people add her as a friend
