Well the most obvious would be that people spend a large amount of their day sitting at the computer staring at a bright screen. People are forgetting about real face-to-face human interaction. Social skills fade and physically people get unhealthy because so much time is spent sitting.

Well, you'll get dependent. For example my friend which started to play facebook games, got dependent by a game, and when I wanted to talk with her she ignored me.
Otherwise you might have posted an unwanted picture and someone could've seen it and forward it. Then you'll have a real problem, because you'll be depressed.
Physical, oh well... after you've got dependence you'll be blocked somehow and you wont practice sports, you wont live healthy because you will also be too lazy to cook and start eating snacks so often until you'll gain weight. That's what happened to my friend and now she has to work really hard to get her health and body back.

When we tend to face the computer every time, we fail to socialize with the real people in the real world. Sometimes, we become lazy to go out and see the beautiful wonders of our world because what we focus on is the internet. Too much web surfing and social networking may lead to lower work productivity and less social interaction with family and friends.

I think that social media has evolved to more than just an idea, a tool...and into a living organism, much like the air we breathe. The effects of social media varies on how one responds to it. For you, it may be something wonderful, helping you to connect with people you care about. For others, it may be an invasion of privacy and all those negative stuff we hear. To answer your question, I believe that social media stress is as real as chronic fatigue syndrome. I even read this news today about a mom convicted for killing her child because her baby's crying disrupted her on a game of Farmville. We live in social media bubble these days and the question is, when will it pop?
