Can the police/government view my facebook messages?
Not that i have anything to hide, but me and my friend were talking about this today. If im on facebook minding my own business having a private conversation with someone, can the police or government or someone with authority happen to come accross my facebook messages and have a read?

facebook is designed with privacy in mind. Police have no authority or way to check your messages directly via your account. The only way they can get copies of messages is when they have a very good reason to...even then they would need a warrant to order facebook to send copies from their servers.

Yes. If they can view your text messages and emails, I'm sure facebook messages are no different.

they can if they want to - everything you do on the internet is tracked and saved by the corporations running the website, including everything you look up on google and every other search site
but not to worry - everything is tracked, but you only get in trouble if you are under some sort of investigation they need a court order to use the evidence in a court case but yes, every private message is still saved on their servers for 7 years, even if you completely delete it - be careful what you do online |
