Why have people started making facebook groups which force you to become a fan to see the picture?

Recently all the fan pages force you to become a fan to see the 'amazing shocking weird' picture.

Im actually getting sick of it. Does anyone know WHY people have started doing this? Why can't we just have normal fan pages which let you see the picture before you become a fan :-( ?

Those people are attention whores. They do that because they want as many people as possible joining their pages. And as long as you keep joining them, they'll keep getting that attention. It's that simple. They are FAKE.

The entire fan page concept on Facebook is a teen thing.
Teens are often like sheep - eager to follow anybody who stands out. Perhaps one popular person started the "forcing you to become a fan to see the picture" and now everybody is doing it. That's how teens are - they have to appear "cool"
