Facebook guidelines require a user to be 13 or older.
(Not everyone using Facebooks is over 13, and unless something happens to point out the issue to Facebook they usually ignore the violation of the rules.) There are other sites, designed for children, that would be safer for an 11 year old to use. Ads |

I think their are much safer sites for children to be on than facebook and I allow my children on them but they are 6 and 9 years old. I think it is up to each childs parents to decide if facebook is alright for their child and at what age. If they child is mature enough, can be trusted not to give out private information about his or her self and if the parents have enough time to check out what the child is doing on facebook should all be taken into consideration. I have two realitives that allow their 8 year old daughters on facebook. One does everthing she is suppost to be doing on facebook and mostly plays games and talks to close friends and realitives. The other one I noticed is pretending to be a much older person and gives out way to much information. So it really depends on the child and if the parents keep tract of what the child is doing on facebook.
